How much self-confidence you must have as a developer to do a live stream writing code.
I have a feeling that if I did something like that and a senior programmer saw what I was doing they'd tear their eyes out and hire a hitman to kill me.

This is the sort of story which (again) gives confidence that AGS is a responsible, professional, grownup and accountable force, and not a bunch of self-indulgent self-serving (innumerate) incompetents who will not accept oversight (but who hold police powers)...

it's annoying that people who have lots moralize the strategies people who don't have use to survive.
on the flip side, it's hard to not be over-pampering.
common learned strategies:
- resource hunting (asking dad vs mom, or a less experienced volunteer when the shift lead says no)
- fragmenting for assistance (slightly different requests to many people)
- hoarding (if you've never endured scarcity you might not get this)
Nothing wrong with that strategy, just we're also trying to help out the polite / hesitant folks who don't vouch for themselves
or dealing with a limited "one phone per family" budget because money in a charity is f-ing tight.
assume the best of the people you're trying to help, but don't commit the org to promises (even saying maybe can be seen as commitment that might backfire) - call the case manager and let them work it out.
trying to avoid codependency and encouraging them to try it themselves / gain confidence in a new place, encourage independence and self sufficiency.

Being trans has taught me to work on my self-confidence. Sometimes I feel like a cardboard wall because sometimes something will bust through.
But you know whose opinion of me matters? Mine and the opinion of my fiancé @…. No other opinions matters to me.
Being trans is a journey of blocking out the negative voices.

Telling them that their brains are deficient means that right from the start they have no chance at the self-confidence they need, and deserve. They've been told they will fail, before they even started.
